I dont think this waterfall is in kerala. The closest one that comes to mind is Athirappilly, but that is nowhere in this scale. This has to be somewhere in South America. probably brazil or venezuela. Just guessing.

The name you see in the corner of the photo also is an indicator...

Just curious - where did you get these photos from?

After a little web search..

This could be the Iguazu falls in the Brazil-Argentina border.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iguazu_Falls

I have been to Athirappilly/Vazhachal. They are not this wide..

Hi, this was forwarded to me as ppt slide of 10 water falls and the first slide mentioned Vazakhal and Athirmapally near Thrissur.

I was just so amazed, and since I haven't been to Kerala during monsoons, thought it must be true. Anyway come to think of it, if indeed we had something so spectacular, the tourists industry would have been all over it. So looks like I got fooled!.
Anyway if they are in Brazil, I wanna go there, they are simply amazing

Thanks Nomad

I was just looking up info on Victoria falls, and it says it was originally called Mosi-oa-Tunya, the "smoke that thunders". And those water falls at Hogennakal means smoking stones. How natives in various lands had used the appropriate names in their native langauges.

Avid trekker

I deleted the pics. since I learnt later that the caption was misleading, the water falls in the ppt. were those of Iguauza waterfalls between Argentina and Brazil.

Steve , I am confused, on the internet I found the Hogennakal described as the indian Naigara too....
