This was our first time at Tadoba in Winters. Earlier three safaris from Kolara gate had yielded zero sightings & were repenting on our decision of coming to Tadoba at this time of the year. All our earlier trips were in summers & were rewarded by splendid sightings. With very little hopes we started our fourth safari of the trip sharp at 2.30 pm. The gypsy was moving at a steady pace with not even a deer in sight. About 20 minutes from the start suddenly the driver stopped the gypsy & what we saw to our left took us by pleasant surprise. A Leopard was walking inside the bushes, our first sighting of this majestic beast in Tadoba (after 70 odd safaris). It walked parallel to us for few steps, came out in the open & crossed the road quickly & disappeared into the bushes. We waited nearby for it to come out again not knowing what was in store for us ahead. Quickly we decided to move ahead since it will be futile to expect the Leopard to come back again to the same place considering that the other safari vehicles were arriving at the spot one after another. About 10 minutes later we came across Maya the reigning queen of Tadoba, marking her territory & swiftly moving inside the dense forest after giving us a glimpse of her majestic self. The guide knew where she headed & we quickly moved further to reach the place where she was expected to come out. While we were moving at a brisk pace in search of Maya about 15 minutes later we came across a sloth bear & it's cub crossing the road & moving into the bushes. This made our last 30 minutes magical in the wild with sightings of The Big 3 at Tadoba.

Best watched in Full HD (1080p).

Shot at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), Maharashtra, November 2016.

Movie clip taken with Panasonic DMC FZ70 & Still pictures taken with Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera & Nikkor 80 - 400 mm VR lens.

Critics & comments most welcome.

Hi Ronak,

Another nice video . Thanks for sharing I've never been to Tadoba. How far is Korala from Mohrali Gate ? If we stay at Mohrali, can we enter forest through Korala gate ? Planning a trip to Tadoba. So need your help & advice . Thanks in advance.

Hi Arupratan,

Thanks for watching & liking the video.

If you stay at Moharli, you can not enter through Kolara gate as both of them are at a distance from one another & you will spend lot of time commuting between the two. Technically it is possible but practically it is not. Also you will spend lots of money on commuting.

If you want to enter from Kolara gate then better stay at that gate itself. FDCM guest house & Chava resort are two decent options to stay. If you enter from Moharli or from Kolara you can enter each others area but you have to exit from the same gate where you have entered. Currently entering from Kolara is much more beneficial sighting wise as compared to staying at Moharli. There is one more area called Kolsa (two gates - Zari & Pangdi) which right now has super sightings. When are you planning to go ? Book the safaris well in advance as Tadoba is in demand right now. Do let me know if you have other doubts, would love to clarify the same.

The Ghost of Tadoba | Leopard

Best watched in Full HD (1080p).

Description
Presenting the elusive Leopard - The Ghost of Tadoba. Unlike Tigers (whose sightings are common & last longer), Leopards are very shy & immediately run away in the bushes once they sense human presence in their vicinity. But on this occasion the Leopard after sensing our presence sat for a good 10 minutes on the road giving us ample opportunities to click pictures & take video.
Filmed at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), Maharashtra, January 2017.
Movie clip taken with Panasonic DMC FZ70 & Still pictures taken with Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera & Nikkor 80 - 400 mm VR lens.

Hi Ronak,

Planning for next April. We'll do 4 safaris in Moharli & 2 in Kolsa. How far are Zari & Pangdi gates from Moharli ? Is it possible to have safaris in Kolsa if we stay at Moharli ? Or should we have to stay somewhere near Zari / Pangdi gate ? Please suggest. Thanks.

Hi Arupratan,

At present one accommodation is available at Zari gate, however it is slightly on the costlier side. At Pangdi gate one accommodation (simple type) is likely to open in coming season. It was under construction last May. It is possible to stay at Moharli & commute to Zari but you will end up spending lot of time (in excess of 1 hour one way) in commuting. Since you want to travel in next April chances are there that a good & affordable stay would be open at Pangdi gate by that time. Hope this helps.
