Carolurie

I'm going to India late November and a travel agent in Delhi has quoted US$340 as a fee for a driver to take two of us to Corbet NP and stay for 2 days. Price includes full board, entry to park and a couple of rides. Is this a fair price? It sounds not bad to me, but I haven't been to India before so have no idea of 'benchmarks'. All info appreciated.

Park fees 2 x 450 = 900
jeep fees 4 x 200 = 800
elephant 2 x 250 = 500
= 2300

2 nights in Hotel = 2500
meals = 1200
= 6000

$340 = 15344 rupees
- 6000 rupees for park costs
= 9344 rupees for taxi

Delh-Corbet return 485 kms at 12 rupees a km 5820 rupees
9344
- 5820
= 3524 profit

These estimates are based on upper mid range hotels and this can be done slightly cheaper if you so wish!!
So at least 1/5 of this budget will go in the pocket of the travel agent I've no opinion of whether this is excessive or not but there it is!!

The KMVN offer this package!!

Friday 2 Nights & 3 Days
Sunday 2 Nights & 3 Days
Tariff 2 Nights
Foreigner: Adults Rs.5200/-
(5 to 12 years) Child Rs.4700/-

Indian: Adults Rs.4000/-
(5 to 12 years) Child Rs.3500/-
(3.2% Govt. tax will be extra)

This fare includes transportation by Deluxe Coach/Quallis/Car, shared accommodation full Veg. Meals. All Taxes (Entrance Fee, One Elephant Ride, One Jeep Ride) at Corbett park and Guide Services.

So quite a bit cheaper!!
