Indian Wildlife and National Parks - Looking for Lions in Sasan Gir or prowling for tigers in Corbett Tiger Reserve. Where do you go when nature calls?

Bhardia

Has anyone been to Royal Bhardia NP in Nepal. If so, what did you think of it?
Any info on places to stay, eat and what there is to do there would be appreciated. Thanks

Bardia

I've been to Bardia last year, in the end of september. I cannot compare with any other national parks, as it's the only one I've seen in my life, but it was a nice place.

I went there instead of Chitwan because there are much less tourists there, and it's true, there are few tourists at Bardia. The guesthouses are situated just outside the park in a very nice Tharu village.

I was a little bit deceived beacause I only saw monkeys and deers in the park, but it's a nice place. If you go right after the monsoon (as I did), don't expect to see tigers or rhinos, or something like that. If you go in april, then your chances will be good.
If you have other questions, you can send me a e-mail.

Info

Hello Nat
I also put the same question on the LP TT and got a helpful reply from Darcy who has stayed at Forest Hideaway a few times and recommends it. Sounds a nice place- their website is

www.catmando.com/forest-hideaway/forest.htm

We e-mailed them for prices and they said that rooms are 400 Nepali rupees (US$5.50) with common bath and 700 NR (US$10) for rooms with private bath, breakfast included.
They also do guided walks in the park and I think elephant and jeep safaris. No prices for evening meals given. They advise booking in advance but we can’t do this as we don’t know exactly when we will be there.
If I get any more info I will put it on this thread.

Good travelling

Sorry this address is giving problems so just go to google.com and type in Forest Hideaway Bardia Nepal
