Bangalore and nearest National Park

Hi guys,

I will be in Bangalore for few week for business and free most weekend.

I am planning a 2 day 1 night stay to Mysore.

I got another weekend which is during the Deepavali or Festival of Light. Where can I go? Please advice.

Where is Kerala and Bandipur ?

thanks

I went to Nagarahole NP (also called Rajiv Ghandi NP) about 2 hrs drive sw. of Mysore, you can easily get a car & driver in Mysore to go there. It's fairly easy to see a tiger there, loads of elephants too, and there are not many tourists, I stayed at Kabini River Lodge, it's a lovely place, a former Maharaja hunting lodge on the river.

i was also based in bangalore, and also a trip to mysore, stopping at nagarhole (in kabini) on the way home. had a great time, and would thoroughly recommend kabini resort. it's so peaceful, and can stay in tents (they're not real tents- they're posh tents, with tea making facitilities and a porch and everything!) it's really lovely there.

so jealous about you going to bangalore! i'm desperate to go back. had a dream a couple of nights ago that someone asked me to go with them and that they'd pay for me and everything. for a split second when i woke up i believed it, i was not in a good mood when i realised it had just been a dream!

K. Gudi in BR Hills

K Gudi is another of the Jungle Lodges near Mysore. You can stay in tented cottages and take great jeep safaris. Beautiful country and well run. We saw many wild elephants, deer and saw the tiger kill, but missed seeing the tiger..
We were just there in March 2005..

does Bannergatta count as a park? definitely the closest, just an hour away, but I'm told it's more of a zoo . . .
between Bandipur and Nagarhole, the latter is by far my fave.
