Bandhavgarh on Jungle Plan
We plan to visit Bandhavgarh National park 2 nights/3 days just before X-mas. Asked for an invoice from one lodge (Tiger Trails resort) and they replied with an offer of 54,000 Rs.
To me that sounds very much for beeing India... Or am I wrong? The offer is for 4 persons in one lodge with Jungle Plan (i.e. all meals and 3 visits to the park included). Please, someone, is this an OK price for Bandhavgarh? I need feedback on this before I make up my mind... |

Bandavgargh
Rs. 54,000 for 4 people for 3 days with all meals and jungle safaris works out to about 4,500 per person per day all inclusive...is certainly not roughing it out but is comparable to the going rates for wildlife resorts of the class of Tigertrails.I would think you have a decent offer.

Thanks HH.
I think you are right. We are going to take the offer. And when I am back from India I will add our experiences from Bandhavgarh to this thread! |

That sounds fairly typical in pricing. We stayed at a similar resort (can't remember which one) in Bandhavgarh over Xmas a couple of years ago and the price was similar. At the time I remember it seemed very expensive, but when I think back about it, it was definitely worth it.
The most important thing was getting to the gates of the park early - the park guides are allocated according to the order cars arrive at the gate. The wildlife guy from our resort made us get up incredibly early so as to ensure we were at the front of the queue and got the best guides and it definitely made a difference. We saw 4 tigers on our first day. The next 2 days we didn't see any & not many other people did either - the park got very busy over Xmas and the tigers went into hiding. Even if you don't see tigers it's still amazing though - plenty of other wildlife and the way the guides do the tracking is fascinating. Bear in mind it will be cold - take plenty of layers of warm clothing, it's pleasant when you're in the sun, but when you're sat outside the park gates pre-dawn it's freezing. |

The best time to see the tigers is in the hot summer months and not in winter when there are not too many sightings. So be prepared for some no shows especially if you are there only for a few days. You may also try the nearby Kanha Tiger Park for some variety. Happy tiger spotting!!!
Cheers, Aadil.
