Bandhavgarh NP - accomodation recommendations

I wondering about whether to book some accom for Bandhavgarh.

I'm not usually the type to book beforehand, but my wife and I are planning to be there over Christmas. Possibly staying at white tiger lodge.

What's the "crowds" like at that time of year?

I'll probably be looking to book something as soon as I get my train tickets booked which means about sometime next week.

Also, I've heard some people mention Kum Kum lodge. Is this about the same as White Tiger lodge in quality or perhaps slightly more "homely"

Looking real forward to using my new 500mm lens on my camera. Should be greaaaattttt. (As Tony the Tiger would say)

I am also going there, in January. I had a quote from "Indian Excursion", a guy called Vishal. He quoted US$40 per night per person, includes 3 meals per day, 2 x jeep safari per day, service of guide/naturalist.White Tiger is owned by Madhya Pradesh tourism. I gather their places are generally reliable. I can't say for sure but I would think Christmas period would be busy.Vishal's email is info@travelcentralindia.com.

the MP (White Tiger, IIRC) lodge is fine, if a bit uninspired. The cottages by the stream are best and quietest.

Yeah I had the same feeling about the white tiger lodge very uninspiring the place felt like it wasn't quite finished..
I thought the rooms at the Kum Kum lodge though very basic (no hot water except by the bucket) were much better value for money.
The Kum Kum is a budget option but the rooms, although basic, are clean and large!! All rooms have a lovely porch to sit in and the staff though they speak little English are eager to please.
Salim who drives the hotel jeep for visits to the park is second to none it was purely down to him we saw a family of 5 tigers on our evening excursion!!
All the contact details for the Kum Kum are to be found in the hotel listings section of this forum.
I was there just before Christmas last year and Although Tala was filling up it seemed to me there was still enough accomodation to go around!!
It didn't appear to be a big destination for the festive period
At the Kum Kum try and get the new cottage at the back of the main house!!
Well away from everything and the feeling that your really in the jungle!!

Happy Traveling

yes, I've been leaning towards Kum Kum after reading some of the good reports. I really wanted to go a little lux for my wife over Xmas, but I guess even WTL is budget, if a little more expensive. Also, they don't seem to want to take my reservation and I've spent 50Rs already in phonecalls/faxes, but still don't have any confidence that it will get actioned.

So, where are these hotel listing on the forums? You better help me out.

Thanks

MP Tourism

hi,

I have stayed in White tiger lodge, its good especially the food.Me being Indian i found it Excellent. Yes in december there would be a crowd and is advisable to book in advance. White Tiger Lodge being a Government establishment dont expect an answer soon. Most of the time you will get a spot booking.
Make a visit to Bamera Dam , its very wild there too.
I am going back in december to Bandavgarh and Kanha and make a short trip to Orcha and Bimbetka.
Enjoy MP.!!!!!!!

Even i dont think kum kum will have AC rooms. And AC wont be required in these days.
The person over there at Ku kum told me that there are no luxuries there Its asimple hotel so cost around 300buks.

when are you going? Lemme know more details.
