HI,

No. there is not Hotel near Kolsa. and as it is major Kolsa jungle routes are closed now. Kolsa is more for the people who stay nearby.
You can try Buffer area if you want. Buffer is open for tatkal booking. there are 3 to 4 buffer areas.

Hi Nitin,

Thanks a lot for the extremely useful information on TATR.
1) Can you suggest the road route from Moharli gate to Kolara gate (of course WITHOUT crossing through the core jungle)
2) Does the proposed route pass through buffer forest ?? If so is the route open during the night OR is there any restriction on the traffic movement(e.g. it is open from 7 am to 6 pm only)

HI,

1) Can you suggest the road route from Moharli gate to Kolara gate (of course WITHOUT crossing through the core jungle)

If you are staying at Moharli and have booked Entry from Kolara then you are in terrific situation. It is 80 Km and from outside of Jungle 2 and a half hour drive.. You will face major problem in getting Transport. No Gypsy will come to drop you there as Moharli registered Gypsies will not be allowed to enter from Kolara gate at any cost. All Gypsies have Big Mark on the body and they have to return to their respective gates in the evening. So you will have to hire 2 vehicles. One to drop you at Kolara and another (KL Registered Gypsy) Gypsy to enter Jungle. Please have a look at this route. (Route)

2) Does the proposed route pass through buffer forest ?? If so is the route open during the night OR is there any restriction on the traffic
Yes it does pass through Buffer area. You might see leopards or may be Tiger. I have seen many animals on that route while going to Moharli from Nagpur. No Traffic. Hardly any car on that road. Take experienced Local Driver. Call Subhash he is local guy stay at Moharli village. He is trustworthy and will give you good transport. his number 8055257451.
You can go at night but there are two Forest Department Check posts on the way. Dont know if they will allow you to cross buffer road. Ask Subhash he will help you.

Do let me know your actual plan so I will suggest you better route and guidance.

regards

Nitin

Thanks Nitin,

I know that it is difficult to do safari from Moharli gate if you are staying at Kolara gate & Vice versa.
I am planning to stay one night each at Kolara (2 safari's) and Moharli (2 safari's).
I will be transferring from Kolara to Moharli during the afternoon. I wanted the 80 km road route to be suggested

Ok.. then thats the only Route best for you. Click on that route in my above last post.
Other route is far away from Kolsa. Go via Chimur. Thats the best option for you
All the best

Visit Kolsa if it is open for Safaris. It was closed last month.
Sighting is good but Kolsa is huge Jungle. Shivanzari area is good. Dont think it os open right now. I am there from 1st June to 6th June staying at MTDC. I am doing 5 Core and 1 Buffer. Will try one Kolsa on 5 Core safaris.

Just missed the male by just a minute at a place whose name I cannot remember, by the river side. The sloth bear and bird sightings were beyond belief. Had a truly great visit.

The VIP and Deluxe suites at MTDC are awesome. But the MTDC Aarea is now crowded since the last visit 2 years back and a bit, albeit a very small bit of the charm is lost. But at night when we went out of the gate for a walk after dinner, we were warned not to venture to far. Just a few nights before one of the resort boys returning on his motorcycle was chased by a leopard all the way to the gate of the MTDC. That menacing charm of the MTDC is unmatched

HI,

Just an Update. Brother is back from Tadoba. Subhash Guide has got New AC Innova and he is giving the lowest deals from Nagpur Pick up and Drop. You can compare it with others. they can pick you up from Nagpur Santra market and take you to Moharli gate from Buffer aria which is a Short Cut.

Subhash's Number is 080552 57451

I am there in the first week of June 2016. Will update the trip report.

regards

Nitin
