In last 12 years and 120 safaris.. I have seen a Leopard only onCe and that also for 3 seconds. But many people have seen Leopards many times for an hour also. Depends.!

1) Gypsy system seem to have been recently changed where it is now allotted on rotation basis (previously i used to get the same driver/gypsy for every ride as per hotel).

Yes. you are right Gypsies are now on rotation basis

With this system,if i stay in MTDC how will i get details of the gypsy/driver for my ride? Will MTDC be able to help arrange for the same or i need to do this on my own?

Just show your Safari Permit at MTDC Reception. They will call the Gypsies at 5 am in the morning and 1pm in afternoon. NO worries about getting Gypsies. there are more than enough Gypsies waiting for tourists with safari permits.

2) Most of the posts above suggest Subhash guide as one of the best in Mohurli side who can arrange gypsy and also join us for our rides. Given that guides are allotted randomly at the gate, is there a way to have him as a matter of choice?

SUbhash is good Guide since long. But you can also try Bandu Gautarey.. He is Subhash's brother. Subhash has 2 Gypsies but as Gypsies are on rotation, you have to take the Gypsy which comes as per number system. If you want Subhash only then talk to him first. If he can swap his number with others then he will join you or else you will have to pay 300/- to him which will be extra for you. (Apart from the Guide fee you pay at the booking office)
By the way no one can assure you Tiger or any Animal sightings. its upon your luck

3) Does anyone have experience of staying in Pugmarks jungle lodge near Mohurli gate?

new resort but costly. I would suggest MTDC is best right now as everything is furnished and new bathrooms, bedrooms.

Thanks,
Ram
Thanks a lot Nitin for your responses. As always very helpful

Do carry scarf / mouth mask as it can get very dusty (red sand dust from roads)
(especially for the child)

Wear Balaklava.. that's the best. There will be too much dust as it will be dry now.
