Yesterday my 1YR Tourist Visa arrived via Travisa Outsourcing

I didn't use the Fedex signature option, although I don't remember seeing it.

I wanted to report my success. If anyone wants, I can go into detail. I'm aware a Visa FAQ already exists.

Warmest regards to everyone today, -mike

Oh, since this is the "question" forum, I guess I can make one up.

Why does the Travisa App require 2 passport size photos? What did they use them for? Does the India consulate keep them so that they can remember what I look like? Are the India consulate employees really into scrapbooking?

Most visa applications for any country call for passport photos that they sometimes never use. I had to bring passport photos when I applied in 2005, before Travisa was used. I also had to send several when I applied for a Permanent Resident visa to Canada. I have no clue what they do with them--maybe it's just another hoop to jump through. I'm sure with the technology today they could just as easily scan one of them, so perhaps it will change... but I'm not holding my breath.

Congratulations!

I guess, you're aware of the fact that for an additional $65 you could have easily gotten a 10year visa. Read this post by camelgirl. It's recommended to get a 10year visa in case you fall in love with India.

Did Fed Ex require a signature?

Sorry, would be helpful to know in my dealings with Travisa Customer service.

Thanks!

Ordinary Fed Ex Express overnight doesn't require a signature; so, signature wasn't required for shipping to Travisa nor the shipping back.

Some people are upset about this, because they say passports are attractive for theft, but I'm not sure how it works. I would recommend contacting Travisa about it if you have more concerns, though.

That's weird. Passports aren't at all attractive for theft. What's anyone else going to do with a passport in my name? It is of course terribly inconvenient if they're lost--possibly the most frightening outcome for a traveler--but since FedEx has delivery confirmation and tracking, a signature wouldn't be a big deal.

Sell it for a lot of money. They are valuable items and should be treated as such.
