XV type visa

Can anyone explain to me what is a XV type visa with a "3 months stay" special endorsement on it?
The visa duration is about 5 months but it has a special endorsement "3 months stay".So what should I make of it?
I guess it is a Tourist visa?Anyone on a tourist visa please let me what is mentioned in the Visa type if it is a tourist visa.

Hello ayamas and welcome to the site.

Please do not post the same thing more than once, in the most appropriate forum, even though we can appreciate that it is sometimes hard to make the decision. I've deleted the other copy of this post.

Now, as to your question, this certainly seems a bit of a mystery!

Tourist visas, in my experience, are of type "T"; "Entry" visas, usually for longer term than a tourist visa, are of type "X".

Please tell us what country this visa was issued in, and what type of visa did you (or the holder) apply for?

Oops sorry I cross posted my question.I tried to find a way to delete it but i cd not.

Anyways about the query actually it was issued in Turkey to my wife. But I wanted to know are this kind of visas extendable? The FRRO said that because of the "3 months stay" endoresement they cannot extend it even though we are married.

Tourist visas are never extendable, except for short periods to cover stuff like genuine medical emergency.

Usually they allow for a 180-day stay, although citizens of some countries are now able to apply for a five-year visa which has a maximum stay of only 90 days.

Certain people are likely to have restricted periods of stay imposed on them. These include, for instance, those of Pakistani or Sri Lankan origin (even though they may be born and bred citizens of another country).

You are Indian citizen/origin? In which case there other options open to your wife.
