Work Permit Extension

Hello,

My friend's son who is a US citizen is in India and he is working with a reputed company on a work permit. His work permit recently got expired and he wish to extend his work permit, If he sends his documents and passport through fed-ex to his parents, Can they extend his work permit visa for India? If yes then please tell the process of doing that or what could be the other way.

There is no such thing as a work permit, he must have an employment visa, which can only be applied for in your country, but which can be extended in India.

Oh dear... That should have been sorted out before it expired. In that case it sounds as if he has overstayed his visa, which is pretty serious, basically he is now an illegal immigrant.

He needs to visit his local FRRO office asap with a letter from his employers and every other piece of paper he can think of and get his situation "regularised" PDQ. He'll know where the office is, he'd have registered there already. At least I hope so!
