what would you do?
Heres my problem, and trust me its not a true problem is that i stay India 5 months instead of 6 and cost me 200 dollars to change my ticket.Heres what happen I had mis communication with visa corrier I asked him if I get my visa early will it start and I still pretty sure he said no well of corse it does.So Im leaving oct 12 and was planning on coming back april 12 and that is my ticket says, well now my visa is only good till march 8th which is still plenty of time to spend in my favorite country.I do have a couple options the first one is chance go with my original plan of 6months and chance getting my visa extended by 30days,I dont know how easy it is get an extension, the con of that plan is that if I dont get it I pay the flight penalty of 200dollars and find out since I have a dicount ticket all the discount flights are booked up and I have to buy a oneway home or to another country and try to get a new India visa.I could also leave fo Inda next week for an extra 500 and have real close to 6months,or I could pay my 200 penalty right now and book a spot back for march 8th and just 5months.so this is my dilema so my ? is what would you do.

Perhaps another alternative might be to get a new Indian visa closer to when you are leaving -- you could check with embassy to see if possible to either redate your current one or to cancel it and apply for a new one. Never tried it myself, but maybe worth checking.

Just get a new visa--- I'm sure that's the simplest cheapest least-risky method. You've got time, it isn't as if you are leaving in a day or two (OK, then you wouldn't have this problem, but you know what I mean...).
But looks like your ticket is for exactly six months: unless you get the visa on the day you leave ( ) you are going to end up overstaying a day or two anyway...

The consequences are going to be highly unpleasant. You could very well end up getting banned from visiting India again. Pay the $200 and avoid unnecessary tension. |
