You can find out all that by looking at the visa itself.
And only by looking at the visa: it will say on it what its validity is and whether it is for single or multiple entry. For general information from sites such as the Bureau of Immigration, MHA, or High Commision, London, sites, what you need to look up is "Entry" Visa. The visa has 'type X' printed on it, but its official name is 'Entry Visa'. If, or when, your mother has been married to her British husband for more than one year, if he wishes to frequently visit, or even live in, India, it might be a good idea for him to apply for a PIO card. Being married to an Indian citizen qualifies him for this. The above links should give you/him all the information you need.
