What are the document needed to apply EXIT PERMIT?
Hi..
My name is Leshmy, I am a Malaysian, married to Indian citizen…living in Pune for past 11 month.. I had applied for X visa 6 months ago…but no sign I will get it soon… I am 7 month pregnant… and currently my husband in abroad…I am stuck here alone…I want to withdraw my X visa application and leave the country for my delivery… I called Mumbai FRRO who confirms that they can give Exit Permit… As per Mumbai FRRO the document needed is: 1) Residential permit 2) Photo copy of my passport/visa/and entry stamp I want to make sure that they only need the above documents... or will ask me to come up with other documents once I am there in Mumbai…with my current condition I cant travel up and down from Pune to Mumbai every time.. One more thing I would like to know is….as per the visa stamped on my passport….I overstayed for 5 month….But MHA in New Delhi gave me extra 3 months visa…..which is not stamped in the passport…3 weeks ago Pune FRRO made me pay RS1938 to state bank…saying payment for my visa extension…but still no stamp on my passport…I have no receipt to confirm the payment as Pune FRRO took it.. Would the Mumbai FRRO make me pay for 5 month over stay as per the passport? If anybody had gone thru or have any idea about exit permit process…would really appreciate your advice.. Thank you, |

As far as I know, your passport should indicate that you still have a valid visa....but all that stuff is kept electronically nowadays and they can check online. If Pune FRRO asked you to pay for the extension and you paid to the State Bank I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Can't help with the exit permit though, sorry. I think you need to get some expert advice. Get your husband or his family to look at things or hire an immigration lawyer. The matter's a little too important for an internet forum, I don't know if you'll be able to re-apply for the X-visa without problems if you abort the procedure halfway.

Any luck?
Leshmy, did you get the exit permit?
The stories on IM are not great--even w/all the paperwork, they invariably tell you it is not enough. Much of what happens depends on the mood of the person you are working with. Rules are inconsistent at best. Whatever you do, do it fast, because you may have difficulty being allowed on a flight if you are close to your due date. Keep us posted. |
