Visas for Pakistan born British Nationals
As requsted by Nick,to start a new thread relating to the above topic.
When I went to the Consulate last week with all the relevant paperwork,I (and a friend) was told to bring a letter from my employer, and one from the childrens school, cofirming that they attend there. We both wanted single entry visas for trips that will last two weeks or so. Ok...so armed with these extras we went again yesterday, and after checking everything we were told that they will accept our applications, and it will take two weeks to process. However,we could check back next week to see how matters were progressing.Hopefully there should not be any problems. Both my friend and I been residing in the UK for several years (in my case over twenty),our children were born here.W e have never been in trouble of any sort...duly paid our taxes etc. I would advise any Pakistan born British Nationals to take a letter from their employer (and from any school,if applicable),together with any expired passports too,to avoid delay in obtaining the visas. HTH. |

Thank you Hakies.
There was an IMer in your situation (not to worry you...) who eventually got his visa, at the last minute, by getting his MP (he was lucky enough to know him personally) to pull strings through a high-up at HCI London. Even British-born Nationals of Pakistani descent can be given a hard time. Re the letters... Can you give us a sample so that people know what they should be asking for?

The one from school was "To whom it may oncern This is to confirm that *****(name of child/ren) has/have been a pupil/s/ at this school since (date of entry). It is anticipated she/he/they will sit *****(any exams,ie GCSE) in (date)."Infants/Juniors can ignore the last sentence. Signiature of Head. It goes without saying to take photo copies of any correspodence you take with you. |

Result....
Just to update....
I went to pick up my (and my friends')passports on Friday, after getting a call from the Consulate to say they were ready. Well,it didn't take long (two days),and it only took a few minutes at the counter too.Very pleased with the service, although the initial application took a while. HTH. |
