visa with felony record

Is there a question on the visa application form , 'have you been convicted of a felony?' Believe it or not, a self- conscious friend asked me. Does anyone know?

There is no question on the visa form for India, at least not for a tourist visa. The only country I can remember ever asking about it is the US.

Only the US? The tourist visa app for India doesn't ask about this. But in my experience many countries ask foreigners about a criminal record, either as part of the visa application (e.g., China) or on the landing card for visa-waiver visitors (e.g., Japan), or for residency permits/long-term visas (e.g., Germany).

When I filled a form for the UK tourist visa it asked the following questions-

Do you have any criminal convictions in any country including traffic offences)?

In times of either peace or war have you ever been involved in, or suspected of involvement in, war crimes, crimes against
humanity or genocide? Refer to the guidance notes for definitions.

Have you ever been involved in,supported,or encouraged terrorist activities in any country?Have you, ever been a member of,
or given support to an organisation that as been concerned
in terrorism? Refer to the guidance notes for definitions.

just answer no to these types of questions.

no one ever checks as this kind of information is not shared between governments. imagine sending every application for visa in Mumbai to the Mumbai police to ensure that the applicant has answered correctly with regards to the traffic and other offences. it does not happen.

The UK Visa Form is pretty stringent and a bit far-fetched isn't it? If I recollect when we did Mr K's applications for both Oz and NZ I think there was something there re criminal conviction or gaol sentence?? There was the same for visa for Nepal. Also immigration forms as you enter a country often have this on them - Australia and NZ both do.

Now that sounds like a great idea Nick.

One or two questions could be-

How many flame wars you have started?

Have you ever been called a troll?

Well, given the regular number of people who are completely blind to the big red letters at the top of the Terms and Conditions, No Travel Agents, It wouldn't make any difference anyway.

Have you ever tried to sell a mobile phone online? would be a good one too! Spammers!

Traffic Offences? You've got to be kidding!
And we complain about our outdated and cumbersome procedures!
