To add to that if you are going in person get there early. (7:45am ). Large queues start to form after 8:00am. Also they give tickets to the first 200 people and have a limited number of visas to issue each day.

I don't know about Brimingham. I did a postal application to the London High commission and it took about 7 days in total, which thought was really good going.

hi folks

well i sent my 2 passports (mine and my partners) for visas by post on 11/12/06 and i got them back on 23/12/06.

so it took 12 days which i think is quite good for that time of year as it is busy for the consulate in birmimgham

sending both ways by special delivery which cost me £8.20.

i wuld reccomedn doin it via post as it saves both the journey to get them and the time.

no problesm at all

india here we come lol

Has anyone forwarded a postal application to Birmingham since the start of January and, if so, how long did it take (assuming it has arrived yet)?

Some info that may help others thinking about applying by post.

I applied by post via Birmingham for a tourist visa. It arrived at their office on 18 Jan. I received it back on 8 Feb by special delivery. The visa is stamped for 3 Feb. That's 22 days. It's their busy period but nevertheless that was particularly slow according to other posts here and my previous experiences.
