Visa to Pakistan and Iran
Will be travelling to India by train and passing through Iran and Pakistan.
How easy is it to obtain visa in Turkey for Iran, or should I apply for this in my home country before I leave, and visa for Pakistan in Iran and India in Pakistan? Thank you indeed for all answers given! Andreas |

Generally, I would say it's better to start off with the visas in your passport.
This is fine if the visas start when you enter the country but in the case of India the visa starts on the date of issue so you would lose the amount of travelling time it takes to get to the Indian border. It's probably better to get the Iranian and Pakistan visas in your home country and your Indian visa in Pakistan. Unless of course you are not concerned about losing a week or two weeks off your Indian visa. In which case you could get all three visas in Sweden and save time hanging around at embassies on the way. |

Andreas, I have made enquiries recently about obtaining Pakistani visa in India for a non-Indian resident (not totally what you are asking but still) and it takes three working days here in Delhi, they call you on the forth day.

Alan, is it easy to obtain the Indian visa in Pakistan?
I will apply for visas to Iran and Pakistan in my home country. Probably also for India too since it will save me a lot of time and won't need to worry about this on the track. Volga, thank you for the info! Maybe it will take a few days to obtain an Indian visa in Pakistan too. |

I'm not sure how easy or difficult it is to get an Indian visa in Pakistan. We've had very little information about this on this forum. At least if you have all your visas before you start your journey you can be reasonably sure you won't have problems on the way. Just remember that the Indian visa starts from the day of issue, not the day of entry into India. Have a great trip, we did the journey in an English bus in 1966. |

Alan, I was in India last year and applied in great advance. Two months before departure! Surprised to see that the visa starts from the day of issue.
It experires by the beginning of March and need to apply for a new one. Hope this will be a good one! |

In 2001, I got my visa for India when I was in Pakistan. The embassy is in Islamabad and it was an easy process... I'm sure they did it for us on the spot because I don't remember having to go back again (but i could be wrong!)
