Visa Questions

Hi,

Wonder if anybody can help me with a couple of visa questions.

1) Do I need an onward air ticket to get a visa for India or get
into India with a visa?

2) If I was to get a visa in June, which then expired in December, would
I be able to get another visa in January?. Plan is India, Nepal and India
again.

Thanks

John.

1) No you don't need an onward ticket to be able to get a visa or to be allowed in.

2) Yes you would be able to get another visa the month following the expiration of your first one, But you would have to do it outside of India, ie Nepal.

to add to 70s hippie

i have heard it is not easy to get a visa in nepal.

fish around for someone with such info. if you are a us/brit long visas are available and while pricey would be worthwhile even if you use only 2x.

then you can do visa run to nepal np.

Monk, US people, it seems, can get these 10-yr visas: UK people, no. We can only get 6-month visas.

Why this descrimination I don't know, bbut I expect it is to do with what US and UK offer Indian people.

Nothing to do with what UK offers India.

Indians can get a 10 year UK visa. For some reason the reciprocal arrangement for us UK nationals does not exist.

Oh. In that case the way the Indian Govt treats us UKish stinks. It's just a money-raising thing anyway.

Nice article in one of the papers (Hindu or New Indian Express) the other day bemoaning the fact that the Indian Govt has no Green Card scheme for foreign residents. They gave it a half page. Including comments like that some foreign residents have given more to india than many NRIs.
