visa question
Will be going to India in November and again december and Feb/April 07, when applying for visa can we state what date we want it to start from. We have others who r coming out with us in November and staying for 6 months, so we want our visas to start from November so they dont expire until April, can we apply now and state for it to run from November?? otherwise we have to leave it til the last minute and go to the Indian Embassey to get them in person, somehting to be avoided at all costs after our last visit!!!
And is it ok to enter and leave India as many times as we want during those 6 months?? |

Some visas are single entry and some are multiple entry. There is a slight difference in cost as well. I bought a single entry last year but they gave me multiple for no apparent reason.
PS - They never asked us when we wanted the visa to start from. When they stamp it, they mark the current date and it begins from there. |

Visas start from the date of issue. Apply as close as possible to departure. They are issued same day in London. A Tourist Visa issued in the UK is for 6 months and usually Multiple Entry.

Yep. Just to emphasise that point: you do not state the date you want it to start from. It starts that day you get it.
It does not cost more in UK to get a multiple-entry visa. Unless they have reason not to grant it, the standard tourist visa is 6-month multiple entry. But put 'multiple' on the form anyway.
