Visa Problem
I have a five year multiple entry tourist visa, which I got two years ago, but unfortunately the official stamp and signature validating it have washed off( I forgot to take my passport out of my trousers before i gave them to a dhobi
). How can I get this fixed? do I need to go to the embassy in London, where I originally got it? or do I need to fork out for another visa? Also, I'm thinking of getting a replacement passport as the dhobi-ing didn't do my passport any good either.

If you replace your passport you will easily be able to replace the visa but I think you'll have to fork out to replace it, I can't them issuing a new one for free.
I would imagine you can do this at any Indian embassy |

You may be able to transfer your 5 year multiple entry visa to a new passport. It depends on whether they accept the validity of the visa now that it has been 'dhobified'. In any case, the fee is low, so if you're replacing your passport anyway, it won't harm to try.
This info relates to the London HCI, and you would need to send the docs to this embassy: Transfer of Visa Fee £4.00, this is for transfer of five-year visa issued by this mission or other missions in UK, from an expired passport to a new passport. Both the expired and new passports have to be submitted in original along with a separate application form. And here's a link to the application form: visa-transfer form sanj

Cheers guys, that was most helpful. One more thing, if I go to the High Commission in person can I get it done the same day? I'm planning to be in England in July, around the first or second week, but I don't want to spend any longer than I have to, and I'll be spending a day sorting out my passport as well

Never done this but numerous reports say it is so. Get there early! Take the downloaded forms and make sure to stand in the right line. Which one is that? To tell would take out all the fun & the training for India..

To be sure, give them a call on 020 7836 8484, or you can email them at fsvisa@hcilondon.net. If you need more contact details, try this page.
Good luck, and be careful with those dhobis ![]() |
