Visa Outsourcing - U.S. Experience
Visa Outsourcing - U.S. Experience
Just received my passport and visa back from Travisa Outsourcing, the U.S. firm in NY who processes visas.
To make a long story short, the service was fast and exactly as promised. It is not cheap, but the processing fee of $13 was a small portion of the overall cost when you take the embassy's fees as well as the express shipment fees (Fedex) into account. We were sending two passports together, and this rather complex transaction - hitting one of us for the shipping fees and not the other - was apparently done correctly.
If you have ever used a private visa service, Travista compares favorably in terms of cost and service.

Just got my and my wife's visas done through the NYC office. I found the staff to be very efficient, courteous, and competent. I dropped the passports off in the morning, and was informed in the evening that they're ready for pickup.
And they even had a status page where I could check to see how the applications were coming along.
One of the more pleasant "outsourcing" experiences for me.

i am in canada edmonton alberta. i am having terrible time getting visa. highly disorganized indians, between indian consulates and outsourcing company consulars do not know what they are doing. i have priority mailed my passports to different places; terrible and unethical creatures. i am indian with canadian passport.
Perry, you really should apply for OCI or PIO card if you are of Indian origin. The recent restrictions on tourist visas could cause trouble for you someday. However, the new rule for Americans of Indian birth (I don't know if it's also true for you) is that you have to provide your cancelled Indian passport or a previous Indian visa. That could be a hassle if you didn't keep it.

Gotta say the old SF office was pretty fast, one week turn around on ordinary mail. Its just they had they annoying habit of dumping documents willy nilly in the land fill

That was the Consulate that was dumping old applications; let's hope Travisa is better at getting info shredded.I went into the Travisa office on the day before Dusshera, so my visa took two days instead of just one... and consequenly, there was a huge number of people waiting for their passports to be returned. ... some with luggage, as they planned to leave that evening. Check your calendar before applying!
