I wish they offered visa-on-arrival as an option
Could be an expensive option for people who are refused a visa on arrival.

I guess the reason they don't have this option is the paranoia regarding who is arriving (ie. concerns over terrorism and illicit activities).

But it would certainly be nice to have it in place.

Cheers

When did you send your application? Should they have received it on 6/16?

I FedEx'ed ours on June 23, they received them on the morning of June 24 (FedEx tracking).

But the website still doesn't show anything being received! I'm getting nervous, especially since I don't want this to take 2 weeks... It might've been easier for me to take a trip up to SF...

Well, I'm not too bright.... We carried in our printed applications and the Passport and presented them in person. I had thought they'd recieve them electronically and start the process and then just slap in stickers.... Anyway, it was a breeze this time. No waiting around with a number and then being met by a disinterested man at the counter. Instead, that outsourcing woman was very friendly and talked us through it.

When you sent your application in, did you send your Passport in with it? I'm really not an expert but I think you should get it back soon. Best of luck! I hope you won't have to make a trip up to SF.

Thanks!

I did send our passports with the applications. If I didn't have to move to NY the same time as setting out for this journey, I would've preferred to do it in person. If anything happens to our passports, we need to get emergency passports, which would be another episode of pure panic. And we would lose all the souvenir entry-exit stamps.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

UPDATE: I just received our passports back with the visas

They officially received it on 6/26 and sent it to the Embassy, the Embassy processed it on 6/27, Travisa mailed it back to us on 6/30 via FedEx and we received it 7/1!

Worked out wonderfully and very comfortably.

That's very good news! I hate it when things are in other people's hands. When do you leave, and for how long, and where?

We'll be arriving in India in early September, stay 1 month. The cities we'll visit are: Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Agra, Khajuraho, Varanasi, Amritsar, Delhi

But we have a few countries we'll visit before India so we're setting off the first week of August! So little time left!
