Visa or Exit permit for child born in India.

Hi,

I visited MHA yesterday. Very helpful was their attituDE. We parents hold OCI and we got the X visa aproved for the child for 1 year. That is one year multiple entry visa.

The list of documents also included copy of OCI booklet also. So kindly take the OCI book, the one look like a small passport which you get when you take OCI or PIO( which is not the visa stamp, that also they need other than copy of the OCI/PIO book)

The number of copies needed was just one. But good to take 2 copies

MOST IMPORTANT: The online visa appointment is http://passport.gov.in/vfc/onlineAppointment.jsp
actually Visa application cum appointment system. So you need to fill the application with child's detail. Then you don't have to fill any other visa application form for the child. That include the appointment cum visa application form. Take two print of it, take original documents and copies ( 2 each though you need only one). The details of documents needed are mentioned in the beginning of this post by rush3112 the initiator of this blog(we deeply appreciate his efforts)0

This is not a complete one. rush3112 has given a better and clearer list. Though you may not need all list rush3112 mentioned, it is safe to keep those list of documents ready so that you will not face any problem. Kindly remember to add oci/pio booklet copies also.

By the way i had a good interaction with the responsible people of the possport.gov.in in the mha office and i spent almost 1 hr discussing ways to improve the website, content and search engine friendliness. They were very positive and kind to listen. So please keep sending your suggestions for improvement in writing to mha. Let us together make Indian govt website to be friendly and informative

i am going to follow your steps only, i got my child's 1 year visa now will apply for his oci

What is the FRO fee for x Visa one year multiple entry, how can we pay the money in Indian rs or USD? If Indian rupee what is the correct fee since currency rates keep changing?

Another point i would like to know, FRO issue just a Visa approval letter or they do stamp the visa on passport?

they wont accept USD you have to pay cash 5520Rs for one year and 3680Rs for 6 months.

they will stamp something on passport and will give you Resident permit for 1 year "this is most important paper" and the CATCH is that when you leave country with child you have to go to same FRO or police commer office for exit permit.

god knows what indian goverment call multiper entry, if we got 1 year visa why we need to report for exit. i am really really upset when i got this news for exit permit.

going for oci once come back from australia. this visa thing is really sucks...!!! its better to just get passport and do exit permit and come back to india with visa from outside or get oci outside.... or anything to stay away from this visa thing.

When i went to MHA, they said if i take x visa ( x visa One year Multiple entry) they said i can exit from any place of my choice. I am taking this x visa from North India- where we live now and planning go to Australia Via South India where my parents live, after visiting them after a month. Can it cause any issues?

After reading your experience about going again for exit visa it is upsetting that we need to spent such a lot of time without a reason.

I think, you have to go to the same FRO at the time when you go back to your Country/Leaving India.

My wife went back to her country in June and as we weren't aware of this, about one month later I got a call from the FRO saying that her visa was over and when I said "Sir, She has already left". ohhhh ghoshhh how that officer started talking I know

U can leave india from any airport you just have to tell them you are leaving from such and such port, but they will give exit permit fr 10days in tht 10 days u have to leave, if not you have to go there again same north india office to get exit permit!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't have to go to MHA/Delhi to get an exit permit for our 4 month old son. My wife and I are US Citizens and my wife delivered a baby boy in April in Kerala (Trissur). After getting our Son's US Passport, we contacted the local FRRO (City Commissioner of Police, Trissur) and they said they'd be able to issue an exit permit in roughly a week. The documents we submitted were the following:

- A request letter
- Son's birth certificate
- Copy of our Son's Passport
- Two passport photos
- Copy of our Passport's
- Air Tickets to the US
- Hospital Discharge forms
- Proof of Indian residence (we used my wife's old Indian Drivers License, and a Utility bill)

We received a call from an officer at the nearby police station couple of days after submitting the application. The police officer showed up at our place the same day, and went through all the original docs (Passports, birth ceritificate etc). In another couple of days someone from FRRO called and said the exit permit was ready. I had to pay INR 1850 as fee for the permit. The whole thing was done in 5 business days (submitted the application on a Friday and we received the exit permit the following Thursday).

We flew out of Bangalore, and didn't have any issues at the Immigration/Departure and we are all back here at the States.

yes as i mentioned earlier FRRO has been given special right for exit permit and visa for new born childs. but except delhi, mumbai, kolkata, chennai, amritsar, banglore commision office, and chandigarh. rest of of indian people have to go to new delhi

The problem then is that the person on the other end of the line is likely to tell you the first thing that comes into their head, without regard to its accuracy.
This is a common problem in all matters that require information in India.
The only thing you can (partially) rely on is information on a current government website - current because they never delete obsolete info - or an e-mail confirming the answer to your question.

guys i offered first hand experience i can not verify what your local FRO or delhi office say to you. india is developing country so, what more i say!!!
