Visa on arrival

Hi everybody!

I heard that visitors from a certain number of countries (including Canada) can now get their tourist visa on arrival at the international airports. As anyone experienced this system? Is it recommendable?

I am going to India in July and I would prefer not to go to the embassy to get my visa...
