Visa help needed!!!

Hello all. I have a slight visa problem. I popped down to the High Commission in India in London today to obtain a visa for my mother who has a UK passport. They gave me a ticket to attend for Wednesday the 10th of October but my mother travels on Tuesday 9th. They say there is no way in which she can jump the queue.

Of course, I know we should have done it earlier but it has never been a problem before. So, does anybody have a ticket to attend the Commission on the 8th or 9th which they are willing to swap with mine for the 10th of October? I am happy to pay expenses if necessary!!

Thanks.

Have you tried the Agents on the HCI Agents lists.
Know you have to pay more, but they may delivery the visa on time.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, all of them have the same problem due to high demand and the postal strike. They are all waiting for next week as well.

Try and find out what surgeries are on tomorrow in UK. Look at the different HCI websites.

Good luck

Thanks for posting the note .... I have tickets to fly to London on Sunday to get visas for my family! Does this mean I'll be wasting my time and money - as I'll only be in London a few days??

That is dreadful.

I guess the postal strike gives them some excuse, but having always given a same-day service, how can they suddenly make that five days?

Actually, the postal strike doesn't reallygive them an excuse: the staff that would be dealing with the postal applications can be moved to deal with the counters.

Well it looks like I'm knackered - but RKT how about the visa surgery in Bradford tomorrow .... or the Birmingham office?

We've got a trip to Australia coming up soon - so it looks like we'll be able to get out of the country - but not back in - as our visas will have expired.

Brain not in gear yet!
But they don't do postal visa's do they!
The Agents are taking up 60+ tickets at a time hence the problems in the queues.
Totally unfair.

Good point .... the agents will have seen an opportunity here. Grab a handful of tickets and then charge desperate travellers for the right to go to the High Commission.

Then they should do what some consulates (USA, Canada) do in India .. appoint one agent per consulate and have everybody go through them.

Thanks for all the replies. I am just about to go to the HCI on an emergency basis with my mother so will let you know what happens.

FamilyontheMove: If I get it today and don't need my Wednesday ticket you are welcome to have it, otherwise I fear you may have difficulties.
