| Visa help needed ASAP for a complete idiot! Long story short, I apparantly schrewed up my visa application to India and got my passport sent back. I'm supposed to be leaving for India on tuesday. No hope getting a visa before that time. After panicking for most of the day I realised that I might be able to fix this by travelling to Nepal first, and hopefully get a visa from there as I can get a visa to Nepal on arrival. Now my questions are: Is it possible for a european citizen (Icelandic passport, live in Norway) to get a visa to India while in Nepal(Kathmandu)? How long does it take (min-max?) Should I use a visa service or do it straight through the embassy? (Bear in mind that I'm a complete idiot when it comes to filling out forms etc) How much is it for a visa? And last but not least: I will still be landing in Delhi, but (obviously) not entering the country apart from the airport. Does this count as an entry into the country, meaning that I can't enter India for another 2 months? Please, please help me! I'm so desperate to make this work, can't bear the thought of dropping India and if this works my failure might actually be a blessing in disguise, Nepal is a really exciting country. P.S. If you are laughing at my stupidity, please do so in silence ![]() | |

| I'm certainly not the correct person to be helping you on this as i don't have to worry about visa's anymore. However, Why can't you just go in person on Friday (tomorrow) to the Indian Embassy, explain the screw up, fill in the form there itself, and see if they will give you the visa same day?? Crying might help!! Unless you are light years away from Oslo, is it? Otherwise sure you can get a visa in Nepal, why not? And you would only be in transit through India en route to KTM... can't see any difficulty there. | |

| It seems like it is a minimum of 6 days for getting a visa to India. I will try to call them and have sent them an email and if there is the slightest possibility i will fly into Oslo (an hour by plane). But I'm not that hopeful, although I'm really good at crying crocodile tears I don't think that will work in Norway, country of burocracy! Anyways, do you know if landing on the airport in Delhi counts as an entry into the country, or is the airport "nocountry"? | |

| You would be in transit - i.e. passing through, en route to Nepal. So the question of entering India does not arise and therefore nor does having to pass through immigration, and equally the two month thing, as you are in transit, is not applicable. | |

| Hi, here in u.k we have several companies who for a reasonable fee will get a visa in 1 or 2 days. Have you looked to see if there are similar in your country. Just a thought, good luck and enjoy. All the best, Captain Kit. | |

| Thank you so much for the answer. I didn't think it would count, but who knows these days. Well, then I guess I can almost start getting exited about my accidental trip to Nepal. Provided that nothing else goes wrong, that is ![]() | |

But here in Norway we don't have the luxury of emergency visa or anything alike. ![]() But if this Nepal thing works out then I'll be really happy, even if it wasn't the plan I'm not at all opposed to the idea, it's getting more and more appealing to me Especially cause the alternatives were either postponing the trip or going straight to SE Asia. Cross your fingers for the Travelling Idiot and my even more of an idiot boyfriend! Who knows what screwups lie ahead :P | ||

| Hi, again, the visa the companies obtain is not an emergency visa or anything other than a normal visa . Last year before i went to india i contacted a company on the net at ten at night and they said they could get me the vias for the next afternoon. In the end i had to cancell my trip due to family problems, but i would be surprised if there are no companies doing the same in other countries in europe as it is obviously a money making business, have you actually checked to see if anything like that exsists?. 2. Tuesday is close for you to be buying /rerouting your ticket. 3. Vast majority of visas issued in Kathmandu are to non nepali citizen. Nepali citizens do not need a visa to enter & work in India. 4. Check the visa fees for non-resident foreigners at the Indian Embassy website.

| My understanding is that it will take 5-6 working days in KTM and that transit through the Delhi airport is not a problem. If luggage is not transerred automatically you should contact an employee to assist you.. | |

| Hi, i guess the company could have been lying as i did not see the matter through as explained. Though how they would get paid or not have a torrent of bad publicity in this day of the internet i dont know if they were talking rubbish. Just about every time i have been for a visa(i have over 30 of them)i have seen people with huge bundles of passports either dropping them off or picking them up.I presume these are the guys who are agents for these firms. Afterall it is only a few years since i would pick up my visa the same day i applied for it.The last couple of years it has taken two days for me to receive my visa after i have dropped my passport and form at their office.Have a look on the net for the many companies offering this service. | |
