Hello everyone
My wife and I are going to Goa in April from the UK, today we downloaded the latest visa application and began to fill in our details. However, in the General information it states that Nationals of Hungary should contact the High Commission of India for details of fees applicable. Therefore, I dutifully called the High Commission number on the visa but this told me to call the visa information line (at 60p per minute). This was an automated message mostly recounting info which was on the form. After 8 minutes I gave up as this seemed futile. Whatever happened to human interaction? Anyway I digress, I wonder if anyone is aware of the 'fees applicable' for my Hungarian wife? We planned to post the passports tomorrow with the payment/visa but as we do not know the exact cost now we are at a loss. Anyone have any ideas? It will be much appreciated. Skinny |

£5.00 Service charges for applicants holding Romanian passports.
Though I don't know what other charges may apply. http://www.hcilondon.net/service-fee.html#visa |

So it is a possibility that it will be an extra £5 for my wife too.
Anyone know of a number I can call where I can talk to a person at India House about this? |

yes, I suspect Skinny has found quite true information - I remember reading the fee list in Indian Embassy somewhere and was very surprised what Hungary has done to deserve such a "special" treatment..

Its been a while and I thought I would update this thread as people in the same predicament may want to find out the answer.
In the end things turned out OK. My wife had to pay the same amount as me as she has been living in the country for more than a year. We had to provide proof of this, but in her old passport we had her marriage visa from three years ago. So we sent both her new and old passports with a note explaining the proof. I also sent my passport too, in a special delivery envelope, with the payment (in postal orders) and a SAE special delivery envelope. 16 days later the passports returned with the visas. The only strange part was that my visa was for multiple entries, and my wife’s for a single , also my visa was valid for a couple of months longer. I am sure we filled the visa application identically. Still this does not really matter as both visas cover the period we are in Goa for .Skinny |
