Visa for Nanny
My nanny has accompanied our family to India from Singapore (she is a Philippine passport holder). Our family will be posted in Mumbai for at least 2 years. Our nanny would like to remain with us for another year (she has been in India with us for 6 weeks). Can anyone tell me the process of getting her an appropriate visa? She is currently on a three month tourist visa.

Unless you are a diplomat, I do not think that there is any visa available to your nanny other than a tourist visa, which requires that she leave the country to renew it.
India will grant co-terminus Entry visas to immediate family only of those here on employment visa, not to others in their household. |

Normally they would only be granted in cases where the employer could persuade the authorities that a suitable local person could not be found to fill the post, but that makes me wonder whether you could make an argument about your nanny's already long term "special relationship" making her the most suitable candidate for looking after your children, especially during a move to a different country. On second thoughts... It might already be too late to try that. As she's currently on a tourist visa, taking that route could cause problems with her already having entered India illegally on a tourist visa, when clearly intending to work...

I really do not think you will get a visa for a maid.

I don't know the answer to this - but the concept isn't foreign to India - you used to be able to get 'servant' tickets on trains (no accommodation you understand, presumably they slept in the corridor). Similar arrangements in hotels.
