Hello all!
I just returned yesterday from India, travelling with and meeting the family of my Indian boyfriend... who is now my fiance!! :-) Now begins the complicated process of getting us together to get married. Our plan is for him to travel to the US (where we will live) in December, and live for a few months while we plan and then have our wedding. We have NO IDEA how to make this happen, and are concerned about the Visa process, as well as any US legal requirements or documents I need to take care of so that we can be married here. He has been to the US once before, training for work at our company, and even then the Visa interview process was complex, and some in his training class were denied, despite business sponsorship. We are worried about his ability to travel here for the wedding. Can anyone point me to any resources, give me any guidance on how to start the process, and/or share any experiences about bringing an Indian to the US to get married? Also, we would want to fly his family here for the wedding, and they would return to India afterward (his mom, sister who is a CPA there, and brother in high school). Any thoughts on whether this will be an issue? I would greatly appreciate whatever advice is offered!! Thanks!! |

I have only casual information that a fiance visa is hard to come by. I did the India wedding thing and lived there some time. On top of that, I had a fellow grantee alumni handling the application so it went smoothly there..

Its worth spending $100 and consult an immigration lawyer. If not done properly this process can be a real nightmare lasting several years. I can recommend this lawyer:
http://www.murthy.com/ It might be a little costly but it is the only way you could have some peace of mind. |
