US citizen applying for visa in Canada?
My apologies if this has been answered before, I did do a search but only came up with answers for other countries such as Thailand.
Here's the deal: I live in Seattle in the US. Washington state falls under the San Francisco consulate's jurisdiction. I could easily MAIL my passport to them to apply for the visa, which is probably what I'll end up doing, but I am so close to Vancouver BC that I'm wondering if I could just drive up there to apply for it? (Two birds, one stone: I love Vancouver, and I like getting the visa in just one day.) The Vancouver Consulate's page is unhelpful and I've tried calling during business hours only to get voice mail. Call me paranoid, but I don't really like the idea of putting my precious passport in the mail, but I will do it if I have no other choice. As a US citizen, am I required to go to the consulate located in the US or can I just head to Vancouver and do it there? I see no logical reason why I couldn't do this, but as we all know, logic doesn't always apply when dealing with Indian anything. ![]() |

I think there are a few hoops to jump threw for foreigners - according to their
website. I'd give them a call before coming to visit us up here - in the 'promised land'. ![]()

just a little tip if you do decide to come down to Vancouver to get the one day visa you must have a travel ticket with you and a reason for the emergency, cuz the one day visa thing is only given if you have an emergency, which I seen them asking all the people there that were inquiring about it. I dont think you need any official documentation but just have a reason ie wedding or sick relative or something like that.

Hmm. Okay, thank you both! Since I really want to get the 10-year visa it looks like I might as well just mail my passport to San Francisco, it would probably be easier in the long run.
Thanks again! |
