Tourist visa question

I wish to get a 6 month tourist visa. I have not yet planned where i will go to after India. Does the visa require me to have a departure flight booked? I would like to leave by land.

Any help much appreciated

I pretty sure as long as you leave before your visa expires, there is no need for a departure flight.

No, while the application form does ask for the proposed dates of your trip, it's only so they can check the visa will cover the expected duration of your visit.

You'd be amazed how many people apply for visas that would run out before the end of their trip - or even before it starts!

No doubt you'll have other questions, there is a specific UK Visa thread you can post them on, it's helpful to have all the questions on the same page as it were.

So you'll be going to either Nepal or Pakistan when you leave India, eh?

I have never been asked if I have booked any flights. Remember, the visa starts from date of issue.

The odd quirk is that in some countries, not the UK,they do require proof of an air ticket out. I recall they don't seem to trust Vietnamese or Ozzies. Hmmm, Zoltan why is that? I recall Ozzies as being beloved in Pune since they drank like fish and shared the beer. Sounds like good people to me..

UK is the opposite: they tell people not to book their flights until they have their visas --- in case they don't get them.
