Tourist visa extentions in Sri Lanka...
Has anyone had experience of extending their tourist visa in Sri Lanka? If so, I'd be very interested to know.

There is no such thing as extending, or renewing a tourist visa.
This may seem like a fooish, academic point to make, but it is the sort of thing that is important when you are talking to the guy at the visa counter so as not to annoy him. You are applying for a new visa. The answer to your question, though, is that lots and lots of people have done the visa runs to Sr Lanka and Nepal, and you can find information on their experiences by searching and browsing this site. It used to be a matter of routine. Now it is getting harder. |

You can get a visa in Sri Lanka but the latest is that you will only get a maximum of 3 months anywhere unless you apply in your home country.

Thanks for the info all. This would be my third tourist visa back to back. The first was acquired in the States, the second in UK.

I have heard that on the 3rd they are now shortening the time length to 3 months unless you go back to home country. But, I have no first hand with this. Let us know. Charm sometimes works wonders in bureaucracy..

i have already got 3 indian visas outside my country and the last one was for 6 months also.
So i think is not a matter of how many times you travelled to india but the employee's mood at the time you apply for a new one.lol |
