To get Visa extension India - Sri Lanka - India

I got my visa today but it last only until 08-04-2010, my flight home from Chennai is 28-04-2010.
I think i have to go to Sri Lanka to extend my visa, or is it possible to extend it in Chennai ?.
How long visa do i get in Sri Lanka, to stay there a while ?.
And how long visa do i get when i go back from there to India.
I dont know if i take a flight back and forth.

And the last solution, what happends if i stay in India, and come to the airport with a visa 20 days passing the time ?.

I'm from Sweden, and fly to India Chennai in 04-11-2009.
here the visa i get is for maximum 6 months, and they caunt the time from the stamp when they make the visa.
That is the reason i dont get visa for all my time in India, i got a multientry-visa, so i have to leave India 08-04-2010, and can't go back to India before 09-04-2010.

You cannot extend a tourist visa. You must get a new visa from outside India.

I wish people would not support the Sri Lankan government by going there, but, for those in Southern India with a visa issue, Nepal is a long way .

Unless you can swim exceedingly well take a flight. It may take as much as 5 working days at Kandy to get a new visa. It does seem a tossup between a 3 month or a 6 month stay visa at the moment for a first out of home country visa. India is not nice about overstays. If you decide to go this route please read the prison sections in the novel, Shantaram. At the least you will be hassled righteously. Please feel free to read more on the threads already posted on this topic..

But in Visa TT-Service in Stockholm, one crue there say to me, it's only for me to go to Sri Lanka and back to India, i need only stay there some day's, to get extension or a new visa for India, easy he say.
But what can i otherwise do, i take a flight from Chennai to Sri Lanka, back and forth, or is it better to take a flight to another place, maybe Tailand back and forth ?.
I don't like to pay a new flight-ticket all way home to Sweden, they have to give me a visa from Sri Lanka, i can take a flight from there to the airport Chennai, the same day i gonna take the flight home from Chennai, only need 24 hours visa then.

That flight-ticket i can book from home in Stockholm online, if i really need, good for my surfing to spend the last 20 or 30 days in Sri Lanka.

And Sri Lanka is outside India, i have to manage to get a visa from there, because i really don't have any India visa anymoore 09 april, i go to Sri Lanka 08 april and manage out for to get a 24 hours-visa from 27 april , if i find a Chennaiflight that day, only to catch the homeflight in Chennai.

I don't like the answers i got for now, Panic, do i really have to get a new homeflight before 08 april, BAD.

It may be a matter of language interpretation, but there is no extension available for a tourist visa. You will need to get a new visa, of what ever validity is available.

Sri Lanka --> Chennai --> Sweden without leaving Chennai airport? I wonder if you could do this, and if a transit visa would be possible. This is just an idea, I don't know, maybe others do, or maybe you could ask at the High Commission in Colombo. I don't know if this would work, because you would have to get your baggage from the other side of immigration control. Might be a bad idea.

I got one answer from a Sweden friend i gonna get 30 days visa for Sri Lanka, automatic no problem.
Good for me, the only question now, can i get a new visa to India from there, i don't need extension, only need a new visa.
Maybe i gonna get that automatic too for 15 or 30 days.
I like to stay in Sri Lanka for 30 days, and i am glad if i can be in Chennai some days before the flight home.

My opinion is that you will have no trouble getting a new visa in Sri Lanka to return to India, especially as you can show them your air ticket to Sweden.

I gonna phone Travellink (the onlineticket company) tomorrow, to see if they are able to combine another flight for me, from Chennai to Sri Lanka or Tailand or.., and make the returnticket connecting to my flight from Chennai to Sweden.
That way i dont need visa for India, i'm only in transithall there waiting for the connected flight home.

Only reason i was thinking of Sri Lanka, is the closest other country, big wavews, fun surfing, and kitesurfing.

If your Sweden-India-Sweden ticket has already been issued, it might be difficult to combine the PNR. I have no clue about the transit hall in MAA, but you might need an onward boarding pass issued either CMB or BKK and checked luggage tagged to the final destination. Even then there may not be an interline agreement between the two airlines to facilitate a smooth journey.

It is a onlineticket, and the timing have change already 2 times.
If i contact the ones who manage my onlinetickets they may combine my hometrip from another trip i pay them for.
And i'm home now i fly to India november 04, plenty of time.
I take what country they manage to combine, what ever fits, but i prefere kitesurfing.

But maybe no problem, the man in Indian Visa-office say, take it as a adventure, and go to Sri Lanka, then go back to India after my visa is out, and i gonna get a new visa.

i'm only to worried abot the extra trip, i like to be shure of everything.

I have email Indian embassy in Sweden, and ask for how many days that visa is gonna be from Sri Lanka,
But i dont think i gonna get any answer from them, i may email to embassy in Sri Lanka or Thailand.
I need to know, i like to boock a onlineticket for that trip now, before i go to India.

If i dont get any answer i gonna go for to now boock a onlineticket from Chennai to home april 8 instead.
Travellink take 1724 Sweden kronor for Chennai - Colombo - Chennai, i like that
and single Chennai - Stockholm Sweden 3450 SKR, i dont like that.
I Forget Chennai - Thailand - Chennai it is gonna cost 4500 SKR.

Their answer, IF you get one, will probably be "Application processing time varies and we cannot tell you how long your particular application will take."

If you want a fair idea, look at the visa threads on here about those places, and see what the most recent reports say.

It is not that question i send, if yuu read my previous, i'm gonna get 30 days in Sri Lanka, plenty of time to get a new visa for india.
it is about how many days indian touristvisa i am able to get for my return to India, i need 24 hours or 15 days visa, no moore.
I don't gonna go to Thailand, too expensive flight, i better take a single flight home april 8 it's a lot cheaper,
and i give up every moore questions, i'm gonna bock that new homeflight if i don't get answers from my emails.

I have look at the visathread, and you see this thread i put there when i find no answer, and maybe there are other visa rules for me Swedish.

You get 30 days on entry to Sri Lanka. Processing will take at least 5 business days. From current feedback, the most you are likely to get is 3 months and cases are known of only 1 month being granted. It is not necessarily true that you will get the same. Policy changes without notice.

Minute ago i bock a new flight-ticket Home from Chennai to Sweden, the same date when my Tourist-visa last day 08-04-2010
now everything is good, no need any extra trip, now i can stay in Chennai until i fly home.
I only pay 3201 SKR Swedish krona for a new one way ticket home.
I have to, because i get a warning from a friend who know,
India may not let mi in, if they see i have no flight-ticket home within the time for my visa.
wery hard rules in India.
