Third time application for tourist visa in Nepal
What does happen if you apply for the third time for a tourist visa in Nepal?
I understand there are no rules but the second time I only got 3 month insted of 6 and people say the third time you will get only 1 month. Is this true? |

The website for the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu says this:
" - Tourist Visas which are now valid for 6 months are issued only to those foreigners who have no residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective in visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing or casual visits to friends and relatives. Tourist visas count from the date of issue and cannot be extended or converted into any other category in India. - Repeated applications for tourist visas will not be entertained . - All visas other than transit visas are issued only after telex clearance is received from the Indian Mission in the country to which the applicant belongs. This process takes around 1 week after telexes are sent. Applicants should therefore be prepared to wait for one week after telex clearance is sought before visas are issued to them . Telex clearance charges are Nrs. 300/-." They've been cracking down on back-to-back applications for tourist visas for some time, so it seems to me that if you made a third application, instead of getting only a one month visa, you might not get one at all.

Why dont you apply for an X visa in Nepal ? Were you not in the process of marrying an indian national, who had some problems with his birth certificate ?

Unfortunately he was not right as for one year now there seems to be an unwritten law that it is not only necessary that the embassy does not make any objections within 30 days but they want a definite answer. As the policy of the German embassy in general is not to react on these letters (announcement of propososed marriage) a no answer is not enough. I have great difficulties in obtaining this paper because I did not apply in Germany for it. Somebody else has to do it for me but the main problem is that the husband still only has a ration card which is in hindi. The german office which has to give the certificate of my ability to marry wants to see the documents of the husband not only my ones. We will also try this way and first apply for a voter card for him. The Varanasi court compromised (Indians are more flexible in finding solutions than Germans) by sending a second letter. If this again is not answered they might accept it as no-objection. If not I am slowly running out of time if I want to stay. |

We have a long running sticky thread (meaning it stays at the top of the forum list) about this, where many people have reported their experiences. If you apply in Nepal, please add your experience to it!
My stay in Kathmandu for Visa 25.12.06 - 3.12.06

The Indian Embassy in KTM, knows that each non-nepali case has a history, and will look into it carefully, so be careful in what you say. Tourist!Student!X whatever, be consistent in your story. |

Unfortunately it is on my side now. We hoped to manage to get through without the German non-objection certificate (because the procedure is difficult plus expensive). It might still work without by just waiting for another month. I do not know if I manage in time to get it if things do not work out as I do not want to go back to germany before spring.
I just need more options. I think at least 2 month- delays were caused by the court here in varansi. the jugde who has to take the final decision is not sitting there half of the time. |
