Switching planes in Calcutta

Hello all,

Me and my girlfriend will be flying from Dubai to Kathmandu and need to switch planes in Calcutta on both legs of our trip. We will be spending 4 or 5 hours at the airport on both legs. Is it necessary to have any sort of visa in such a case? Or can you simply transit without a visa just like in most other airports.

I dont know if it makes any difference, but we`d be flying in with emirates to calcutta and be using indian airlines from calcutta to Kathmandu.

I'm only guessing but I don't think you need a visa if you don't leave the airport. If you are staying in the transit area. If you do have to leave the airport to go to a different place to the second flight, you probably do need a visa. You cannot leave the airport without going through India Customs and having a visa (I'm pretty sure about that).

If nationals of your country need a Visa to Visit India then you WILL need a Transit Visa. (Make sure it is for 2 Entry/Exit .. other wise you will need 2)
