Hello all,
Me and my girlfriend will be flying from Dubai to Kathmandu and need to switch planes in Calcutta on both legs of our trip. We will be spending 4 or 5 hours at the airport on both legs. Is it necessary to have any sort of visa in such a case? Or can you simply transit without a visa just like in most other airports. I dont know if it makes any difference, but we`d be flying in with emirates to calcutta and be using indian airlines from calcutta to Kathmandu. thanks Mark |

I'm only guessing but I don't think you need a visa if you don't leave the airport. If you are staying in the transit area. If you do have to leave the airport to go to a different place to the second flight, you probably do need a visa. You cannot leave the airport without going through India Customs and having a visa (I'm pretty sure about that).

If nationals of your country need a Visa to Visit India then you WILL need a Transit Visa. (Make sure it is for 2 Entry/Exit .. other wise you will need 2)
