well if my fren got married to a gal from holland, it means dat single gals from europe can indeed travel to india to get hitched. doesnt dat answer your question. btw, congrats for managing to correctly infer dat my fren's marriage broke up due to stupidity !!

Hi Cristinct, and welcome to IndiaMike.

1) She should be able to get a tourist visa. She doesn't have to mention your relationship at all. If, however, she has already mentioned this to the embassy, she may have now made things harder on herself.
2) This isn't normally a problem for single women traveling.
3) How to proceed from there I don't know. It's unclear if you could get married, then change her status to a more permanent one. It may mean she will have to return home first after your marriage, then apply for a new visa on that basis. It gets discussed more often on this site so you can search around for it, it's just unclear to me what the regulations are. Try also http://immigrationindia.nic.in/

ps Finally, kindly avoid using SMS/text speak on this forum. We have visitors from all over the world, and to many just plain English is hard enough to follow.

The above posts are so difficult to read that I'm sure many will have given up and moved on before reaching the end. Or is it just me?

No, it's not just you, it's a natural result of writing in gobbledegook. I normally can't be bothered to even try and decipher it & will just browse away; this time I had a heart

Something I'm never so sure about though: I imagine these are mostly young (or not-so-young) kids. They may be highly fluent in a localized Hinglish version of SMS (no, I can't even read it without substantial effort in any language I know). It could be that without it, they might have as much difficulty expressing themselves, and be as little understood, in any variety of formal English.

So I'll give them that much benefit of the doubt, and I think it's a language issue too. Conversely, our Romanian etc. visitors will suffer from the same drawbacks, they manage to make themselves understood, so it's little excuse in itself (and English may be a lot harder to them than to our average literate Indian member). It would help if people had a basic realization that in order to get an answer one needs to pose the question clearly and understandably first.

Anyway, maybe someone has an answer to the original poster's questions

These days many people from the younger generation in India feel that using SMS type language on message boards/forums is "cool".

You may have noticed that almost all the posters who have used this type of gibberish are from India.

Ummm.... Seems to me that the best way to get denied a tourist visa is to give your reason for traveling to India as, "I met a guy on the internet and I want to marry him." Perhaps try one of the normal reasons people come to India as a tourist? To visit friends, to visit historic sites, to learn a languages, etc.?

As for the registering the marriage, I don't have personal info to add on that, but there seem to be a lot of threads on the same subject.
