Requirements for Indian Passport for UK Spouse Visa
Requirements for Indian Passport for UK Spouse Visa
Hello. My brother-in-law got married a few months ago in India. The girl already had a passport before marriage as 'MISS R SHARMA'. But when we went to apply for her spouse visa to a local agent we were told that her old passport would not work and she needs to have a new passport as 'MRS'. Although we have already applied for her new passport, I was wondering if this is correct as it does not seem to be making any sense to me personally as I am myself living in the UK with my old passport(with 'MISS P' on my passport) and there has not been any problems. Your replies will really help.
Thank you.
Thank you.
It is incorrect. The name change or the honorific Mrs/Ms/Miss have no bearing on the visa.

I have not seen it appear in any Indian passport(in the last 12 years). There is no place for a salutation. Just surname and given name(s).I did not need to change my surname or get my spouse's name endorsed to get a spouse visa for UK. The marriage certificate was enough.
Ditch that agent and do it yourself. Its not very complex. Since her husband has already gone through a visa processes he will be able to guide her.
