Question Regarding indian passport renewal

Hi,

I am an indian passport holder which will be expiring in jul 2010. I live in calgary Canada and will be submiting my application by mail to vancouver.

I have some of questions regarding this.

1) My current passport has my american visa, which is valid till 2018. Will my old passport will be return to me with my new passport?

2) Do i need a change of appearnce if i have gone bald (i completely shave my head now)?

3) Do i have to personally appear before Consular even if i am sending submitting change in appearance affidavit from notary public?

Hi,

1. Your old passport will be returned back to you. It is usually stapled to the new one so your American visa should still be valid. Besides, in the new passport, it will be mentioned that the person previously travelled on XXX passport

2. I don't think that is necessary. Your current photographs would be enough. People do change in appearance over a period of time.

3. I am not sure if you even have to submit the notarised affidavit regarding change of appearance. However, the more documents you submit, the easier it becomes for them to process it.

July 2010 is still a few months away. Passports are usually renewed + or - 6 months of its expiry.
