Postal tourist visas - current turnaround time
I'm about to send our Tourist Visa applications off today, but it will be going via the UK as I'm at the moment in Spain. So theoretically it won't hit the HC until possibly Wednesday next week (6 December).
Does anyone know how long they are taking at the moment? I will need it back to me (sent via my mum in UK!) in Spain by 23 December so I can use my passport to fly back to the UK. The other option is to use an expensive (another £30 each) travel service, but before I go with this option I'd like to hear if anyone knows the current turnaround time. HELP!! |

We recently sent off our applications and it took exactly 2 weeks. It is a busy time for the HC so I wouldn't expect it any quicker which makes it a bit tight on your time limit

Hiya,
I posted mine (from the UK) to London on Monday the 13th November and got it back on Saturday the 25th. (Used Special Delivery Both Ways) Dave |

Are these turnaround times when using a cheque with your postal application? Just wondered if that slowed down the application process...

Have a look at the form as I think you will find that you cannot send a cheque only a bankers draft or postal order in which case there won't be a delay as these do not have to be cleared by a bank.

Hiya,
They do not accept cheques. Only Postal Order or Bankers Draft accepted by post. (I sent a Postal Order ... cheaper than Bankers Draft) Dave |

I'm more than impressed, I had a right complication with mine as I'm in Spain, so I had to send to my mum who bought the postal order and sent them off for me, then on the return to her she had to post them back to me in Spain so that I can use them on 24 Dec to fly back to the UK, before flying off to India on 3 Jan!
I was worried, but I needn't have been, they took 7 days to return, I put a letter in with the application, so this may have helped. They are currently somewhere in the postal system to come back to Spain, who'll probably end up losing them!!! Anyway, postal system works great, highly recommended. |
