The Visa application asks which places are proposed to be visited; what if I don't really know? I don't see why it would matter if I put in some ideas that might remain unfulfilled, but I just want to make sure everything is set in order as I have to get my Visa at the last minute .I'll cheat and add another question: they also speak of "profession", but I am leaving my job two weeks before departure (thus, before my Visa application) and going to study a month after I come back, with an unknown part-time job. Should I just add unemployed or what will be at the time of my application, my old employer? Again, I don,t see how it would matter (I doubt they verify this), but it's either something that is technically a lie, or "unemployed", which may not look too good. Thanks! The FAQ helped spare another question ("References in India? ").

I would either put what you used to do (unless you mean to never do anything at all like that ever again), or something like "student". Which I always found worked well when I was in the late teens / early 20's working odd jobs, studying, "what do I want to be when I grow up?" phase. Whether I was actually registered full time or what. Since I've just been ultra-vague with "designer", I can't imagine they're going to want a 2 page essay on your current career situation. If you were coming to the US, I'd advise not to put "unemployed" at any cost (the US being particularly worried about illegal employment on non-working visas), but I don't know how serious that is for India.

We ought to have these covered as well. You might encounter a clerk-from-hell who wants your detailed itinerary, but it is very unlikely. Put your intended place of arrival and a few other places you intend to visit. 'Proffession' doesn't necessarily mean 'currently working' --- so if your holiday job was brain surgeon, put brain surgeon! Just do not put anything that makes them think you are connected with journalism: that rings bells with them that you don't want to ring. A friend of mine had hassle because he is a pro photographer and said so.

On the Australian visa form they are asking for " work address". I'm in a similar situation as the OP. I left my job 4 weeks ago. Actuallly, was fired, and at any rate, had only been there five weeks. What should I put in the "work address" field? I can't put "not applicable", can I? Should I just put the place I no longer work at and hope they don't check?? Please any advice?? I have to prepare the application form today..and meanwhile am trawling the old threads trying to find an answer.

| They don't look at any of this. Put your old work address. Put any ordinary profession if in doubt. Make up an itinerary. I always put a trail of places around India. Maybe they're only interested in restricted areas. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks GoanGoan , I was also thinking it's very unlikely they would bother to check. Thanks Nycank. Good idea! But I'd be weary of putting self employed, cause they might think she want's to set up a business in India too. On further reflection, it's probably best to stick as much to the truth as possible and just hope they are reasonable :-)
