Smile Pio/grandmother's British Passport Question

Hi. I have been in India 14 months and i'm now on my 2nd business visa. I want to apply for PIO card. My Dad is Indian but was born in Kenya. He has a british passort. My grandparents on my Dad's side(now deceased) have british passports but the passport states punjab(barnala)as place of birth. My Dad can only obtain my mother's passport so far. he sent a copy of it from the UK via email. my questions are:

1 is my Grandmother's british passport sufficient?
2 Is a copy sufficient. I think i read that you need to present original and copies of 'ALL' documents to apply
3 do i need anymore proof of indian decent?

I am a bit nervous in asking these questions at the office. I've had bad eperiences dealing with such offices in the past, both in India and representative offices in the UK. I hope someone can help with the above questions. i'd hate to apply, spend that money and find out i was not eligable in the first place, but thought i was cos someone gave me the wrong info etcetc. any other advice is also apreciated.

thanks in advance

Apply for an OCI card, not PIO.

1. Notarized photocopies of your Grandfather's british passport with the page referencing the place of birth in punjab.
2. Photocopy of your father's birth certificate and/or documents linking your dad to your granddad.
3. Photocopy of your birth certificate linking you to your dad.
4. Photocopy of your passport.

And whatever else the Indian Mission in UK. DO search for similar threads on folks who applied for an OCI from UK.

Yup, agree with nycank, forget PIO and apply for OCI with paternal grandfather as the "in".

Smile questions

hi. thanks for your replies. the reason i am going for PIO is that I have dual citizenship of australia and britain already. A OCI may create problems with this. WHat i'm really want to know is, is for a PIO card application:

1 is my Grandmother's british passport sufficient?
2 Is a copy sufficient. I think i read that you need to present original and copies of 'ALL' documents to apply
3 do i need anymore proof of indian decent?

i hop to hear from u soon

regards

What problems are you expecting?

I am not aware of any, though perhaps Australia has some obscure rule that I've never heard of?
