Passport Question
If you are on a long term stay in India and your UK passport date expires. Can you renew your passport in India or do you have to go back to the UK?

You would be better off starting your trip with a new passport that contains your Indian Visa.
The Consular sections of the British High Commission in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata issue Emergency Passports and renew 32 page (standard) and 48 page (jumbo) passports that are lost or stolen or due to expire. A fee is payable for these services. The Consular section in Chennai issues Emergency Passports only. Applications for full British passports from Southern India should therefore be directed to the British High Commission in Delhi.
