Passport - Police verification

Thanks Mr.Prasad. The main thing I was confused about was, from the 2nd to the 22nd of May, my status said "Police verification report under review at RPO". On the 22nd it changed to " Police verification completed on 22nd May". In terms of chronology this seemed to be the opposite of how it should be.

Any idea what this means please?

Jokes apart. Dont worry about the chronology of the status. Unless there is a query on your status asking for more details, your passport should arrive shortly.

Still no update on my status. Not sure if it would make sense to go to the Delhi RPO. The last time I was there, they just shooed me away and asked me to come after a month.

several times it takes even up to two months to receive passport once verification is complete. So you should be waiting for some more time before visiting RPO.

Thanks Prakaant. Honestly, I was under the impression things were faster with the new system. However looks like that doesn't seem to be the case .

Another week goes by with the status still the same.

It's been 7 weeks since my police enquiry was done.(1/5/2012)

It's been a month since what shows as status on the website " Police verification completed on 22/05/2012. Passport will be dispatched after clear verification report is received at the passport office.

I had applied on 20th April 2012, so it's been 60 days.

Does it make sense to go to the passport office now, or just wait?

I got my passport after 75 days of applying, though the police verification was done within 30 days and was showing "Police report received" or similar within 45 days.

My police verification was done within 10 days of applying. Of course website says that it was completed on 22nd May. I guess I'll just have to wait it out. Wasn't sure what to do since I've seen the same status for 30 days , and I figured the new system is apparently more efficient.

The System is reasonably efficient.

The people involved find newer and newer ways to make it inefficient so that they can make themselves richer.

Can't believe bribing still works. I thought with the PSk system, there seemed to be no where to bribe. I guess if you go to the RPO it might be different. I had been to the Delhi RPO 45 days ago ( needed pport urgently then, but obviously no luck). They were extremely rude and not willing to listen at all. Not willing to answer questions too.

Huge article in the Times today on the inefficiency of the passport office.
