If your photo is damaged then you will not be able to get through immigration.

Visit the passport office immidietly.

hi

hi nayan, i visited the passport seva kendra in mumbai. they told me to apply for a reissue under the damage category, and as my photo has been damaged , i can't go for tatkal. The person at the inquiry counter refused to provide me with the time duration for getting a new passport. he said that it would take a long time to get it done i am very worried . is there any other way of getting it done quicker like through an agent ?

A non tatkal passport reissue will most likely take two months or more. I dont think an agent will be able to expediete the process. Still, you could talk to one.

In future, be very careful about your passport.

Way back in the 70s, Indian passports had the whole photograph page hermitically sealed with a plastic protection. If you claim that it ruined and faded your photograph by passive humidity and/or glue; then the passport personnel at the counter is probably not very sympathetic ? or he's simply not buying your explanation.

Tell the same story to your office folks of how your passport got damaged. Maybe they'll go to plan B ?

Take nayan's advice very seriously. Passports rarely get damaged or faded sitting in an envelop, unless the whole kit-kaboodle is soaked in toddy !

Sir, I had kept it in the same envelope that i received it in. The inside portion that is the plastic coating is intact. But the moisture seems to have seeped in from the outer black covering. I hope i won't be accused of tampering with my passport
