One of my team mates who was also having the interview on same date got his passport back. Why i have not got my passport? I called the VFS office and they also dont have any knowledge about this. Please help me that how can i get to know about my passport. Thanks in advance. |

Visa for what country? Was your interview conducted by a High Commission / Embassy, or was it a submission appointment at VFS? What on earth are 2 I129 forms anyway?
Has your visa application been processed and refused, and they have forgotten to return your passport, or are you still simply waiting too long for a visa, to visit whatever country it is, to be put in your passport? Whatever the answers, you need to contact the organisation that has your passport and check with them that they do still have your passport. For what it's worth, most Embassies do take missing passports very seriously indeed, it is regarded as a massive failure; in fact it's their worst nightmare.

I had applied for US Visa. The I129 form is the one which they stamp and return to us if the Visa is approved as the same needs to be produced in US when we arrive there.
The VFS is the only point of contact and they told that they have not received the passport from US consulate. Now i dont have any idea how to contact the US consulate to check the status of my passport. I require urgent help from the people who have knowledge about this. Please help me in this case. Thanks |

Mohit, this is primarily a website about travel to and in India, not a website for information about non-immigrant visas to the U.S., so we'll probably be able to offer only limited help. But here's what I have to offer, for what it's worth.
You haven't told us what city you are in, so we have no idea which U.S. consular office is closest to you. You say you don't have any idea how to contact the U.S. Consulate to check whether they have your passport, but a simple Google search quickly turns up a list of all U.S. Consular offices in India, including addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, and websites. Quite honestly, if you are so helpless that you cannot even find this information for yourself, I despair of your being able to negotiate the employment process in the U.S. (I assume you are applying for a non-immigrant worker visa, since that is what the I-129 form is used to apply for). Here's the list: http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/contact-us.html I suggest you contact the Consulate nearest to you and explain your situation and see if they have any idea where your passport is.

So your passport has not been lost or mislaid at all, and VFS are not denying all knowledge of its existence; you are just impatient to get your visa back!
Were you not given any idea at all how long this might take? If not, contact VFS and ask them at what point you should start becoming concerned that all is not well. Ideally, as dzibead suggests above, you would ask the US Embassy / Consulate which is processing your application, but I know that many missions who outsource to VFS no longer accept calls from visa applicants, as that is one of the tasks they're paying VFS to carry out for them. Which is great when all goes well... |

Thanks for all your suggestions.
Today i sent a mail to US consulate, mumbai( which i got from the net) but i got the email failure notification. Then i called the VFS and they had given me the same reply that till the time they receive it from US consulate, they can not tell me about its status. The norma time period which it takes to receive the passport after tamping is 2 days. But now its 4 days for me. Thats why i sought help from you guys if you can help me out. Really i would be thankful to you for your replies. |

If they took calls from everyone who wanted an update, they would never have time to do any actual visa processing. This is one of the reasons they outsource the whole procedure to companies like VFS. Quote:

This website is about travel in India. We are really not able to answer questions about H1B/L1B etc.
This thread is being closed now. (I dont know if it helps you - it took hyd US consulate 20 days to return my passport - they are supposed to do it in 5 days. And they donot entertain any queries before 30 days have passed.) |
