I would have thought that your name is your name, and the passport is in error. Have you had it long? When they first gave my wife a passport, it said sex: M! They even tried to say the mistake wasn't theirs! But, in the end, they had to correct that, and the other mistakes. However, when she changed her name to a completely different spelling (not just two names run together), and to include my family name in hers to make her new married name, then she had to do the name change affidavit, advertisment, etc stuff. If you are in London, I'd suggest you contact the consular dept at the High Commission and ask them for advice. Unless someone here just happens to have been in almost identical situation, we can only surmise, not advise.

If you filled in the application form correctly, so as to show that your name wud normally read as MOHSIN ALI JAFRI, then go back to the HC and make them correct it. I presume you want the PP to reflect the above, so don't let them fob you off that it's ok as it is (it is actually, at least in India nobody wud care much).

Its very common error by passport office in India, easiest way is to Make an Apllication addressed to RPO where it was issued and deposit the passport with Application, in my case when Renewed my passport it did not had even RPO signature , only stamp was there, since I knew somebody in the office I went next day and got it signed on the Spot. thats one office I hate to go. Best of Luck. Cheers
