pakistan born, want visa to india
pakistan born, want visa to india
hi guys!
in a rather strange predicament, a couple of my cousins are going to India, they are Pakistan born hindus and we are citizens of Australia, basically they have not been allowed to travel to india on their Australian passports and have been told to travel on their pakistani passports. Dont know if you guys know but tracvelling to India on a pakistani passport is quiet a problem where u hav 2 to regularly check into police stations for "paper checking" and u r only allowed one entry and exit point into the country . These are quiet annoying when u just wanna go backpacking around the country...
Im in the same predicament, i was born in karachi, but have lived overseas my entire life, in total i think ive spent less than a year of my life in Pakistan! im an Australian citizen and have been for 18 years now ((im 22), would i also have to travel to India on my Pakistani passport as my cousins did (mind you they hav spent the majority of their life in Pakistan)...can someone pls inform/help me?
thanks in advance

thuis makes no sense. the govt of India cannot orce you to use a passport you don't have

If it does not state your country of birth in the passport, just make no reference to Pakistan on your India Visa application. If it does, then you are limited to arriving and departing from either Mumbai of Delhi. you are not supposed to travel around (or will have to check in etc) but no is going to find out -- unless you get caught doing something illegal. if you have hindu names, you really should not have much of a problem.
Passport Rules
Hope you ain't making more than what reality might be. If you have a valid passport it really doesn't matter where you were born. The passport trumphs all that unless you keep waving a Pakistan Flag every time you have a conversation.
I say your Aussie passport is all you need with a valid India visa...

Ayurvedic cure for an Indian headache Im not sure if you can even exit Australia on your Pakistani passport...if you intend to return....I remember telephoning this lady at the passport office to ask if I can travel on my British passport out of Australia...she said I couldn't (forgot the reason)...so Im guessing you dont have a choice but to travel on your australian one
fine then i admit im a bit of a passport/ visa virgin and know very little about it all, but then why did the indian embassy over here kick up a fuss about them travelling to India and why are they using their pakistani passports to travel there...are u sure there hasnt been a change to the visa laws and stuff?

It's probably a seasonal thing people are not allowed to travel is some seasons..say jul/ aug/sep )or something this year from pakistan...(shrug) indian beurocracy.
They were doing a lot of pakistani passport clearances during the last cricket series between the two countries. it got pretty illogical at one point when they gave US resident/citizen pakistani passport holders indian visitor visas on liberal terms. a couple(one is pakistani) of my friends did a tour of india during this time.

guys i probably forgot to mention that i HAVE travelled to India twice before on my Australian passport, the passport clearly shows that im born in pakistan and ive had no problems at all on both occasions, however i think this rule that ive been speaking about is a new occurance.....has anyone heard of any new changes to the indian visa rules? my cousins have allready left, bizarely enough they leave australia with their aussie passport and enter india with their pakistani passports...does this sound normal at all to you guys?
