Hi, as a chinese passport holder, i had business visa of 6 months validity, but each entry shall not be exceed 90 days. However, due to company decision, i could not leave india at the 90 days. Before expiration of the 6 months, my co-workers and i left india in early of Feb., 2008 with some payment to the concerned office easily. And we got endorsement in our passport "Overstayed".
Unfortunately, when my co-workers return india in last week, they were denied to enter india on arrival of delhi airport. But i know some people have the same visa problem re-entered india easily. Why there is difference? And if there is ban of entery, for how mauch time? One year, three years? Or five years? Or whole life? I want to come to india again, how? Please help me! |

I know of someone who threw away his passport and overstayed for like ten years, who eventually was found out and deported, with no option to ever come back, but he could return after a few years, and some pleas with the authorities.
I do not know how it works nowadays with the immigration process being computerized. Certainly you need a new passport because with the 'overstayed' stamp in it you will never make it back. How could you even get another visa like that? |

You said that you paid some money and got your passport stamped over stayed and left India with out any hassle.
With a stamped passport your co-workers obtained a visa easily and was denied entry. Very strange. Did your co-workers returned back to china after being denied entry? |

I don't know if your business is big enough to get you in the door, but, if it is (and you can always try), one idea would be to approach the commercial atache (is that the right word?) at your local High Commission or Embassy. They are there to promote trade, and if your business was not wanted you would not have got a visa in the first place, so they should do what is necessary to sort out such a situation.
What has happened is utterly typical: one government officer has said one thing, another has said something else. It is possible that this may still happen, but if the embassy commerce guy can arrange some letter confirming that the overstay was regularised and with permission, it might be enough to keep immigration officials off your back in the future. Just an idea.
